- Hello-Neighbour is a highly cost-effective online letting agent (think OpenRent). Their tenant-find services start from as little as £29 (excluding any discounts or promotions).
- Hello-Neighbour offers both tenant-find and fully managed packages, but in my view, the real appeal lies in their tenant-find options.
- Like most other online letting agent, their core tenant-find service helps landlords get their rental properties listed on three of the UK’s biggest property portals – Rightmove, Zoopla, and OnTheMarket – to help generate enquiries from prospective tenants.
- Hello-Neighbour provides a fully online marketing and lead generation service. It’s designed for self-managing landlords, rather than those who require in-person support from an agent.
- Hello-Neighbour is relatively new, but they’re growing fast, with over 600 reviews on Trustpilot and an impressive rating of 4.6 / 5.
Full transparency: I haven’t personally given Hello-Neighbour’s online letting services a spin yet, but I know landlords that have, and they’ve only shared positive feedback. I’m expecting a vacancy in the coming months, so I’ll definitely be giving them a joyride (after which, this post will go through a major overhaul, as I’ll be sharing my experience in depth)!

Yup, their basic “Get Listed” package gets whittled down to a freebie with the use of the discount code, which includes free Rightmove, Zoopla & OnTheMarket listings for 3 months.
And yup, the code also knocks 50% off their ‘Get Rented’ package – you’ll have to part with some cash for that one, but it’s still peanuts for the abundance you get.
I don’t know how long Hello-Neighbour will be able to run this current offer, but in my experience, these loss-leader promos usually get buried eventually – they’re simply not sustainable. They exist only to lure people through the door to build a client base, with the hope of generating repeat business, but that door inevitably gets slammed shut. So grab them while you can.
OpenRent, the current market leader by a long stretch (and a service I know many of you use and adore), had a super impressive run of offering the cheapest tenant-find services on the market, along with a 5 day free trial promo that sold like hot cakes. Fair play to them, they kept them on the shelves for significantly longer than I ever expected they would – long over a decade.
Unfortunately, those treats no longer exist. It seems they’ve recently had a rethink and shifted direction, because the current state of their packages is unrecognisable from what they used to be…
Hello-Neighbour Vs OpenRent

I didn’t really want to do this, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t, because comparing Hello-Neighbour’s packages with the market leader can only help give you a clearer perspective on what’s going on here.
While OpenRent are still “cheap” in relative terms, they definitely ain’t what they used to be, and they certainly aren’t as competitive. I suspect they eventually succumbed to the realities of inflation and realised that the too-good-to-be-true offers really do have an expiration date. They seem to have hit it – quite hard.
Over the past few years, I’ve watched – in horror – OpenRent strip away wonderful features from their core packages while simultaneously increasing prices. As a fan since their inception, it’s been painful viewing.
The most telling sign of distress has been their rampant flip-flopping on their prices and features (something I’m more likely to notice than most). It’s been relentless, to say the least.
At some point last year, they removed the Rightmove listing as a core feature and whacked on a £50 “optional extra” charge. Ouch! In their most recent flip-flop, they replaced the Zoopla listing with OnTheMarket, meaning you’d only get an OnTheMarket listing as part of the core features. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? Disgusting.
I mean, I’m certainly no Sir Isaac Einstein, but I could have told them that was an absolute shocker of an idea. Thankfully, they pivoted back to good sense, probably after watching certain numbers plummet – Zoopla is back on the menu again, for now. I don’t care how the transition from offering a Rightmove & Zoopla listing to only an OnTheMarket listing is framed or spun – I wasn’t buying it. That was one hell of a nasty pivot!
Yeah, so, like, what the hell is happening over at OpenRent?
My guess is they’re trying to find the right balance between value and profit, but they seem to be making a hash of it.
As things stand today, when comparing Hello-Neighbour’s packages with the current state of OpenRent’s offerings (which may or may not change tomorrow), they really are worlds apart, even without applying the discount code:

It’s actually difficult for me to accept that OpenRent now charge £50 extra for a Rightmove listing. It forced me to come to terms with the fact that I can no longer say OpenRent is the most attractive choice (and I never thought I’d say that).
Don’t get me wrong, OpenRent is still a fantastic service – I’m still a fan, and I’m still their affiliate partner, and I’m still happily promote them – and I have no doubt that their packages will do what it says on the tin – generate plenty of leads (but only after coughing-up £50 extra for the Rightmove listing). The platform they have built remains solid, bloated with plenty of thoughtful UX and useful tools. There’s definitely value in that, but whether it’s worth the extra £50 is debateable, especially since, from what I’ve heard, Hello-Neighbour’s landlord management console is also sweet as a nut.
In any case, I’m not trying to pry away any fans – if they still tick your boxes and tickle your pickle, you should absolutely continue using their service.
But the reality is, their packages are objectively nowhere near as shiny as they used to be, which has resulted in other online letting agents, just like Hello-Neighbour, offering options that provide a whole lot more bang for your buck.
Right, anywho, I’m done talking-up Hello-Neighbour like they cured smallpox and invented weekends.
