Sarah Beeny FactsCategory: Sarah Beeny |
This is my 3rd article about Sarah Beeny, i’m starting to think I’m a little obsessed. Actually, there are a few good reasons to why i’m writing about Sarah Beeny again. Firstly, Sarah Beeny is extremely inspirational and well respected in the property industry, so any amount of articles based on her wouldn’t be frowned upon on a property related site. Secondly, i’ve noticed a lot of people are landing onto my website by typing “Sarah Beeny” into Google (i’ve got a cool little tool to measure that sort of thing), so obviously people want to read about her. Granted, people probably want to read more about her useful tips, as opposed to me babbling on about her, but oh well. Anyways, it dawned upon me that I don’t even know much about her, besides from that she’s pretty damn awesome on the TV show ‘Property Ladder’ (I watch it religiously). So I decided to hunt around online and dig out a few facts about her.
It isn’t much, but this is what I managed to find out. If you know any facts about her, please let me know and i’ll add it to the list.
Full name:
- Sarah Lucinda Beeny
D.O.B:
- Sarah Beeny was born on 9th January 1972.
Family life:
- Sarah is married to a guy called Graham (lucky ba*tard). She has two kids, Billy and Charlie. Billy was born in 2005 and Charlie in 2006. Charlie was a lucky accident, the result of too much wine.
Sarah Beeny’s House
- Sarah has a home in South West London and another in Yorkshire.
Sarah’s miscarriage:
- In between her two children, Sarah suffered a miscarriage. Billy was eight months and she was only ten weeks gone.
Unusual family setup:
She’s very close with her brother, which is a good thing, because they both married into the same family. Her husband’s sister is her brother’s wife, which sounds rather biblical, but is actually perfectly legal. They were all teenage sweethearts, too: Beeny met her husband, Graham Swift, an artist, at the age of 19.
Property TV Presenter:
- Sarah is best known for presenting property shows on Channel 4, such as ‘Property Ladder’ and ‘Streets Ahead’
Property Development company:
- Sarah set-up her own property development company when she was 24 with her brother and boyfriend.
Property Ladder:
- Sarah landed her role on Property Ladder by randomly talking to someone at a party. The following day her sister-in-law rang Sarah asking her if she wanted to be the front face for a new series. The rest as they say is history.
The early days:
Before moving into property, Beeny tried her hand at various jobs including working for Save the Children, having a window-cleaning business, and selling vacuum cleaners door-to-door. Sarah’s first job was selling ice-cream. Who woulda’ thought?
Family influence:
- Sarah’s father was an architect so she had been on building sites all her life, that’s where she built her foundation of knowledge regarding properties.
Sarah the author:
- Sarah has written two best-selling books, both on the subject of developing property for profit.
Britain’s Best homes:
- In 2003, Sarah co-hosted Britain’s Best Homes for Channel 4.
Sarah’s News Column:
- Sarah writes a weekly column for the Mail on Sunday.
Sarah’s dating site:
- Sarah recently launched a dating site: mysinglefriend.com (I know, how randomly odd). She came up with the idea when trying introduce a friend of hers to the brother of someone at work. Sarah started her internet dating service with a pal two years ago after spending most of her life match-making friends. They both mortgaged their houses to begin the site.
Sarah’s breasts:
- Sarah grew up wanting a boob REDUCTION. She was the first at school to get boobs and wear a bra. She was incredibly self-conscious and asked her father for a reduction. He told her to wait until she was 21 and, if I she wanted it, she could do it. It wasn’t until she met Graham that he encouraged her to wear T-shirts and tighter-fitting tops.
BT Tradespace:
- Sarah is promoting BT Tradespace, an innovative new website which helps small businesses promote and market themselves. It’s like a high-powered MySpace for business.
Dislikes:
- Sarah hates goats-cheese
If Sarah could…
- if Sarah could be anyone anyone else, she would be Darcy Bussell, the ballet dancer
Back in time:
- if Sarah could go back in time, she would never have stopped playing the piano

I am totally obsessed too. I maintain (sort of) a blog of facts about Sarah, so you can find out all you would like to know from there. I’ve not updated it for several months though. Enjoy and keep writing articles about her! She’s great. Does a lot of work for charity.

Firstly, thanks for the response. And secondly, I’m not “totally obsessed”….just yet

Many thanks
Debbie
Hey Debbie,
I’ve also always wondered that myself actually. I don’t actually know, but I did raise the question in our forum, and there is a lot of speculation.

HELP!!I am trying to find out how one gets in touch with Sarah…..we have a Grade 11 listed house and want advice as to how to reorganize it…it is lovel now but needs re-thinking. My husband and I would love to talk to her.
Annie Bull.
I love Sarah Beeny on her show especially when she tells the smart arses how to do it properly. I always wondered how many kids she had as she always seems pregnant. I was so sorry to hear that she lost one. Keep going Sarah you are brilliant and have inspired me to do a lot of changes in my home.
Not wishing to nit-pick, but the ballerina you mention is ‘Darcy Bussell’ not ‘Brussell’. Cheers, Val
Ha, thanks, Val. Extremely picky, but useful to know! I’ve updated the content!
