Experts find a loophole in Home Information Packs (HIP)

Experts claim that there is a loophole which will enable home sellers to avoid paying the HIP fee.

The experts say that sellers only need to provide proof that they have ordered a HIP at the point of sale and do not need to have one to hand over.

If home owners sell their properties before the HIP is ready, they can then cancel it and save themselves the cost of the HIP.

WOW, could this be another royal fuck up related to the introduction of the HIP? Dear Lord, who would have thought?

Conservative Shadow Housing Minister Michael Gove said: “The HIPs fiasco just gets worse and worse. After repeated backtracking from Labour Ministers it now seems that in practice HIPs might be unenforcable.”

Labour has spent millions of pounds of taxpayers’ money developing and advertising the policy which has been scrutinized by the property industry, including myself, Home Information Packs Are Coming For You

I’m glad you’ve pointed this out, I would like someone from the government to come to a town like Regency Cheltenham and explain how a piece of paper stating that at 200 year old house is not energy efficient is going to reduce carbon emissions.
Not least when the same government will (rightly) forbid a property owner from replacing sash windows with energy efficient uPVC ones in listed buildings.
Just knowing that your house is energy inefficient does not stop it being so!
