Check These Websites Before Buying PropertyCategory: Buying Property Tips |
Before I would even consider putting an offer down on a residential property, I would look through my online bibles. Some times I think people underestimate how resourceful the internet actually is. More specifically, the internet is jam-packed with extremely relevant facts and figures to help make your life a lot easier when buying property.
Right Move
Right move is probably has the UK’s biggest property database. If an estate agent is “with the times”, they’ll most definitely be advertising on this particular website. Use right move to see what other properties are selling for in the area you are considering to buy in. Moreover, you can get a real good idea of what your budget can actually get you in other areas.
UpMyStreet
This is probably my favourite property website. This site enables you to see how much property sold for in the past. If you like a particular house, you can find out how much previous owners paid for the property. Additionally, you can find how much similar houses on the same street sold for in the past. It’s a great tool to find out how much the property market has affected the value of property.
Homecheck
This site is great; it gives you information on your local area in regards to flooding, subsidence, pollution, landfill sites, schools, crime rates and planning information. If you have children, it’s a great idea to check out the crime rates for the area you’re contemplating to buy in. The results may sway your decision and save you from future ache and pain.
Property Finder Conveyancing tool
After completing a form, this particular tool will generate a list of quotes from conveyancing solicitors. By no means do I endorse any of the solicitors that may appear on the list, nor can I guarantee you’ll get the cheapest quotes on there. However, the tool is pretty cool, it may give you a rough idea what you should be expected to pay, and may even generate results with cheaper quotes than you have already received from elsewhere. Please note that the results only show their service fees. The overall cost WILL differ from what is shown on the screen, so just call them up for a full quote.
If any of you decide to use these websites, let me know how they work out for you. Additionally, if you have any other useful resources that you’ve used in the past, please let me know! Thanks in advance!
