How To Advertise Your Buy-To-Let On Rightmove

A Landlord friend of mine asked me whether he could advertise a buy-to-let property on Rightmove, even though he’s a private landlord. Most people know that Rightmove only deals with Estate agents and Letting agents. While that is true, there is still a way for a private landlord to advertise on Rightmove for an extremely reasonable price.

There’s a site called www.letmatch.co.uk, which lets landlords advertise their property for free. I’m not entirely sure how popular or affective their service is, but I imagine it’s no way near as effective as Rightmove. But the good news is, it’s a free service. Yes, you get to advertise your property for free!!

Anyways, if you register to letmatch and create a profile for the property you want to let. While you create the profile, towards the end of the process, you get the option to add the listing to Rightmove for a fee of £25. It’s a fair deal.

Simply tick the box and follow the instructions. It’s as simple as that.

How does Letmatch do it?

They work in partnership with a letting agent. In fact, this is what their disclaimer says:

This unique offer is only available due to the our partnership with Visum Lettings and their ‘tenant finding service’. You are not signing any contract with the agency for any further services; they simply have an advertising agreement with us which facilitates this amazing offer.

So Visum Lettings subscribes to Rightmove as a letting agent, and then work in partnership with Letmatch to help get rental properties in the books. From what i’m aware of, Rightmove charge £495 per month for an estate agent to advertise properties on their site.

I’m pretty sure that’s how the system works. However, don’t quote me on the actual Rightmove subscription charge of £495, that’s just something I heard from the grapevine, but it sounds about right to be honest.

So that’s it. If you’re a private landlord and want to appear on Rightmove for £25, go over to Letmatch and register for free, and tick the Rightmove option when you create a profile for your property.
